The Timken Company is a global designer, manufacturer, and marketer of Timken brand bearings, transmissions, gearboxes, chain and related products. Timken was originally established in 1899 in St. Louis, Missouri and now resides in North Canton, Ohio.
Timken typically acquires several middle-market manufacturers per year. Its largest acquisition occurred in 2003 when it bought The Torrington Company, a producer of needle roller, heavy-duty roller and ball bearings and motion control components and assemblies for $840M.
Its most significant sell-side M&A event took place in the middle of 2014, when it spun-off TimkenSteel.
